- Vitamin A (Betacarotene) – supports cell growth, immune function and vision. An important function of Vitamin A is its role in vision and eye health.
- Selenium
- Lutein – a carotanoid with anti-inflammatory properties.
- Zeaxanthin – a fat-soluble antioxidant compound of the xanthophil
- Bilberry – thought to play a role in eye health, with British pilots in World War II reportedly eating bilberry jam believing it to improve night vision. Bilberry is though to reduce the symptoms of eye fatigue, such as eye pain and eye strain and support overall eye health.

- Eyebright – the name ‘Eyebright’ comes from the herb’s traditional use in eye ailments. Preliminary studies suggest that the herb may help relieve irritated and inflamed eyes. Eyebright contains flavonoids, including luteoilin and quercetin, which have antihistamine properties. The herb also provides a compound called aucubin, which may protect against oxidative damage.
- Antioxidants – act as ‘free-radical scavengers’. Free radicals are common in the body, arising through a variety of mechanisms. Many of these free radicals are dealt with by the body’s own free radical, antioxidant defenses. Some free radicals, however, escape these defenses and cause cellular damage.
